O
God of Asa. Once again we come to your throne of Grace with thanks giving.
Thank you for giving us peace and rest in our families and in society. Your
Word says "apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:5b). We
remember king Asa who was a physician and ruled Judah for 41 yrs (2 Chr 16:13).
Thank you for his life, who was zealous in worshipping you and in uprooting
idolatry from his land (2 Chr 14:2-5). When an Ethiopian Zerah (Egyptian successor)
came against him with one million army (largest Army mentioned in scripture)
Asa prayed and cried to you for deliverance and you gave him victory (2 Chr
14:9-15). Thank you for speaking to us O master. Some times in our life it
seems like the world is against us, but you always stand on our behalf and
deliver. Again when the king Baasha went up against Judah, Asa did not relied
on you, but relied on Syrian king (2 Chr 16:2-4) and even in his disease (gout,
degenerative osteoarthritis) he relied on physicians but not on you( 2 Chr
16:11,12). Today you are teaching us something from the life of Asa. He didn't
bother the warning of the seer Hanani. King David was warned by Nathan and he
repented but not by Asa. We confess that many a time we are not depending on
you fully, being aware of your past deeds. We also confess we are not giving
ear to your admonition. We are sorry O God for not obeying your admonition.
Help us to obey your admonition and make us to depend on you in all our future endeavours.
In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
