God of Prophet Amos. We thank you for the Golden Rule in scripture "In
everything do to others as you would have them do to you; FOR THIS IS THE LAW
AND THE PROPHETS (Matthew 7:12). Amos belongs to southern kingdom of Judah but
he preached in the Northern kingdom. He made surgical strikes on Northern
kingdom where people relegate poor and needy. He used idiomatic expressions
like "COWS OF BASHAN" (Amos 4:1). His main prophetic theme was on
social justice (Amos 2:6, 4:1, 5:7, 5:15, and 8:5). Dear God thank you for the
visionary prophet who prophesied against elitist community. Dear God, give us
the vision, meaning of mission and concerns for social justice. Every day we
see transgender, Poor, widows, Orphans, exploited and rejected. We see
disparity between rich and poor but we never think or act on behalf of them. O
gracious God, give us the grace to do charity, strengthen us to strengthen the
poor and weak, fill us with your spirit to stand for the rejected. In Jesus name,
we pray. Amen.
